Countdown to Baby- Feeling Totally Useless

01 February 2012

As of today, I am 37 weeks pregnant. My last two children were born at 37 weeks and 36 1/2 weeks. So, in my mind, I have reached my "due date."  And, I'll be honest... I'm feeling totally unmotivated, totally useless, and totally uninterested in anything but having a baby!

Does that happen to you? It seems like nothing else matters right now... I'm exhausted and looking forward to the "vacation" of being in the hospital! I want to know that my baby's ok and that labor went smoothly (I was in labor for a total of 35 minutes with my last one- I realize that this makes me VERY lucky, but it also makes me VERY worried... Will I end up giving birth in the car??)

Anyways, I feel the need to share this because I'm not in the mood to share anything else.

I'm hoping that the way I'm feeling is one of the signs that there's not much time yet and that very soon, I'll be holding my little one in my arms.

Hopefully, soon after that, I'll feel motived to share something helpful (and not whiney) again :)

  1. I was so whiny at the end of my last pregnancy, and it was during the summer heat, too. You're doing great and Baby will be here soon, soon, soon!
Hopefully the baby won't come too soon so you're not like the woman in the video that was circling who had her baby while sitting in the passenger seat of a car going down the freeway!

  2. For all three I've wanted nothing more than for baby to come those last few weeks. What a blessing that you will soon have this little one to hold and care for.
I hope you have a wonderful day, and that baby arrives soon. Hugs!

    1. Thanks Elise! So happy to know that it's not just me! I remember before my first daughter was born, I totally resented my job because I felt like it was taking me away from my baby (and she wasn't even born yet!) Now, that's the way I feel about everything :)

  5. I started winding down at around 5 months. I had to struggle to motivate myself to do stuff to blog about. I went from making 5+ cute lunches a week to maybe 1. Maybe. I'm surprised at how quickly I bounced back after, especially considering that now I have an extra kiddo to deal with! I went from doing absolutely nothing (seriously. At around 34 weeks I stopped even going out to stuff with my mom clubs) to not only making cute lunches again (and posting about them,) but also cooked the occasional meal! (I don't cool. Seriously. I've already cooked half as many meals in the past 6 weeks (since baby was born) as I did all last year!
    Hang in there, Mama!

    1. It's so good to hear that! My daughter asked me the other day if I would start making fun lunches again after the baby was born (I felt so bad!!) It's like my brain has turned off and I just can't even harness any creativity--- and as far as writing complete sentences?? Forget it! Thanks for the support :)
