Try a New Food Tuesday #3- Kale Chips

I've been hearing (reading) about Kale Chips for quite a while. I liked the concept and wanted to try them, but found it hard to believe that they were really as good as people said. But I finally decided to go for it!
The kids had a blast helping me make them.
First they helped to pull the leaves from the hard inner "stem," and then put them on a baking tray.
We then sprayed them with olive oil.
Then...because of my "doubt," I ended up making one critical error. I added WAY too much salt.
Before the kale was cooked it seemed really thick and dense... I mistakenly believed that they would need a good sprinkling of salt to get the desired taste.
(We cooked these for @15 minutes at 350 degrees--- they will get crunchy so wait until they do!)
The verdict was that these WOULD have been awesome- if not for the salt. My daughter still ate all of the "chips" on her plate but pulled a face with each one... It was if we all so desperately just wanted to turn back the clock and remove the salt- because other than that- they were really good!
I will definitely be buying more kale in my next shopping trip and trying these again soon!
My son also loved munching on it raw and plain... (he may be part rabbit!)
